Various acts have been passed, each aiming at different components of the environment. For example, the Air Act lays down laws to not only protect the air from pollutants but also to restore it to its former state of cleanliness. Similarly, the Water Act, Soil Act etc. exist.
Some environmental issues proved so complex that they could not be solved through only one of the Acts. Thus, the Environmental Protection Act was passed to tackle more complicated cases. The National Green Tribunal Act was passed to set up tribunals that focused solely on environmental cases. They provide quicker trials and speedy justice only for environment disputes.
